Ticket #507 (new defect)

Opened 2 years ago

Last modified 1 year ago

comment error message clears entered data

Reported by: ageller Assigned to: jjb
Priority: normal Milestone: 1.1
Keywords: stumped Cc:

Description

When one leaves out an email or name from a comment post, wp-comments-post.php spits out the very pleasant, all text "Error: please fill the required fields (name, email)."

While the look of the error could be better, it's a problem that the user loses all the information that was entered. Pushing the back button (in firefox at least) does not give the text back.

If the comment form is in fact a form, maybe the previously passed text can be returned via a post command to those fields?

Confirmed that 2.0.11 does NOT have this problem.

I'm not sure why Lyceum would have this problem. Something circumstance leading FF to believe that it is not returning to the "same" page?
