Blank page when changing theme

Reported by: marco@teknusi.org Assigned to: jjb
Priority: high Milestone: The Future
Keywords: Cc: beverly@ladiesofhack.com

Description

There seems to be a problem when changing themes: randomly something goes wrong when switching and this gives you a blank page. 0.30 installation + sub-domain setup. Only solution found is to reset the user theme to the default one directly on the sql dbase.

i cannot reproduce this, with either url scheme.

which theme were you having trouble with?

I downloaded several additional themes for wordpress. It seems to me the problem comes when changing form on of these themes to one of those shipped with lyceum. Anyway it happens quite randomly, and several users using my lyceum installation experienced this.

John, at the moment this seems to be really easy to reproduce here on my installation. Environment: latest nightly lyceum (downloaded on May 7th), subdomain setup. Let's say my blog has the default theme, going to admin and changing it to almost-spring theme brings me to a blank page. After the change looking at the database table options i can see:

option_name -> active_plugins option_value -> a:1:{i:0;s:37:"../themes/default/functions.php";}

while stylesheet and templates value are correctly set to almost-spring (my new selected theme).

I think this could be somewhat related to the blank page problem. To be more specific: http://marco.blog.teknusi.org/admin/themes.php?activated=true this is the first blank page i get when changing the theme. After this all i can do is resetting stylesheet an template values in the options table to default to get my page back on-line. I hope this can help.

info from beverly:

Hi John,
I have PHP version 4.3.11 and MySql 3.23.49

I thought the ticket was opened by someone else who was having the problem..? If it's just me, I can't figure out what it is. I upload the
themes into the themes folder, and they show just fine in the "Presentation" panel, but when one is selected, the entire blog disappears
leaving just a blank page.

What is interesting, though, is that I uploaded the K2beta folder, and that seems to work fine! I can switch to the theme and nothing goes
wrong when I switch to it. But any other theme I've uploaded won't work. I'm clueless as usual!

I hope this helps! Good luck and thanks for all of your hard work! :)

i haven't been able to reproduce the bug.

"themes shipped with the lyceum installation"

lyceum only comes with one theme. do you mean the themes on the demo site?

Can anybody help me to install lyceum in subdomain. Ex. instead of displaing like http://sitename.com/blogname I need to display like http://blogname.sitename.com

I followed the instructions in the doc but I get blank page for portal.php or internal server error. What is the actual problem

Blank page when opening the site. Wat is the reason?

09/07/07 16:43:08 changed by lyceum

  • priority changed from low to high.

Any status on this? Preferably a fix (url-based) from the user end that can be done w/o directly modifying the SQL?
